But when the opportunity finally came, he took it with both hands. In IPL 2023, he made his debut against Punjab, coming in as an Impact Player and smashing an unbeaten 32 off just 15 balls. Although the team lost the match, his explosive knock cemented his position in the side. That season, Jurel scored 152 runs across 11 innings at an impressive strike rate of 172.72, and his ability to score rapidly in the death overs made him a valuable asset for Rajasthan. Dhruv Jurel made his Test debut for India in the third Test against England in Rajkot. In his maiden Test innings, he scored 46 off 104 balls. But it was in the very next match where he truly announced himself. In the fourth Test against England at Ranchi, Jurel scored a crucial 90 runs off 149 balls in the first innings and kept India in the game as wickets fell around him, turning out to be the highest run scorer in the innings for India. In the second innings, he stopped a collapse and stitched up a crucial 72-run partnership with Shubman Gill to steer India to victory, and was awarded Player of the Match for his crucial knocks in both innings. Later, he brought up his maiden Test century against West Indies in Ahmedabad.
